Good Afternoon Parents and Carers

As we move to the end of term we have a couple of changes in staffing and curriculum delivery.

I write to inform you Ms Caitlyn Seymour will be going on maternity leave at the conclusion of this term.  This is a very exciting time for both Caity and Beau as they await the arrival of their first child.   Mr Daniel Boulton will be taking over Caity’s classroom until the end of the year.

Next semester instead of STEM as a specialist subject, students will engage in ART classes as a specialist subject.  Students will still be exposed to some robotics, animating, lego etc however it will just have an art focus instead of science.  This change is only for the remainder of the 2022 school year and is due to the building project that will hopefully begin sometime in term 3. The transporting of STEM equipment to different rooms has been a logistical nightmare and limited the quality of learning time for the students.

Breakfast club will be returning next term on Wednesday and Friday.  Toast, fruit and juice will be available for all children from 8.15am. Thank you to Sweet and Sour sisters and the St Vincent de Paul team for making this possible.

Throughout this term we have had many children coming to school out of school uniform, especially in our leadership Centre.  Sports uniform should only be worn on the allocated sports day or if advised by teachers.  Students should be wearing NAVY not black or grey tracksuit pants.  Thank you for understanding.

The Feast of the Sacred Heart, celebrated in June, is a special day for our school. On this day we celebrate the love of God for us and in our response we are called to spread that love in our relationships and by our actions. "God has no other hands but ours to show His love to the world."  We will be celebrating Mass at the Multipurpose building at Sacred heart College.  We would love you to join us in Celebrating this wonderful occasion.

Just a reminder, reports are now available on PAM.

A reminder that Friday 24th June is the last day of term, students will be dismissed at 2:15pm.  I hope you all have a relaxing holiday break with your families and look forward to seeing everyone back at school on Monday 11th July ready for the new term.

May the Sacred Heart of Jesus continue to watch over our school community and bless us always.

Take Care

Arn

Sacred Heart Day
We will be celebrating Sacred Heart Day with Sacred Heart College on Friday with Mass at 10am in the Multi-Purpose Building (MPB). Following we will have a sausage sizzle with the college and then returning here for a tabloid sports afternoon. Fr Michael Morley will be celebrating Mass with us. As this is the first time, we have celebrated Mass and Sacred Heart Day for two years we hope we have as many guests as possible join us for our school feast day. This is always a special celebration and one we hope you can attend. Please rug up as the MPB can be quite a cold space.
All children will be receiving a cupcake as part of our celebrations.
All children  are to wear full school uniform on Friday and bring their runners to change into.
Mass will go ahead no matter the weather as we will bus the children to the college if needs be however if necessary, the tabloid sports will be postponed to another date.

Winnie is off to State Cross Country
Recently ten students from Sacred Heart participated in the ‘Hume’ Regional Cross Country Championships at Benalla. Students ranging in age from 9yrs to 12yrs competed and ran well against some of the best runners in the Nth East. From Wodonga to Shepparton, Wangaratta, Myrtleford and everywhere in between, the competition was fierce.
In our 9/10yr girls and boys, the students ran 2km. Amelie Coll came 13th just missing State selection by one spot. A great effort by Amelie. Sophia Connell (34th) & Sienna Gallagher (37th) also ran well. Taylor Lewis ran well to finish in 22nd spot in the boys race. In our 11yr boys and girls, Harry Ramsdale (14th), Jackson Smith (18th) & Sam Cummins (24th) set a top, consistent pace over the 3km. Winnie Heffernan & Isobel Bruce (26th) did the same in the 11yr girls. A high standard of running saw the girls stick with the front runners early. Winnie was able to hold the pace and was rewarded with a 10th placing. This meant she qualified for the State Championships, the top 12 go through, to be held in Melbourne on Thurs July 14th.  In our 12/13yr boys and girls, Sam Osborne (37th) was our school’s sole representative in this age group. Well done to all our students and a big thank you to the families who travelled and supported the students on the day.
Prep enrolments for 2023 are now open and close on August 26. Both new and current families will need to enrol their child before the 26th August. Please share this information to any families who may have a 2023 prep child. Please contact the school office 03 5744 3339 to book a guided tour.

 The Resilience Project
 Parent and Carer Hub

In the final part of The Resilience Project's digital series, Hugh shares an important message about allowing our children to experience adversity.

The key to building resilience in our children is allowing them to experience failure, hardship, disappointment etc. As parents, we can be too quick to resolve our children's challenges which can deprive our children of enormous growth opportunities. These typically happen when we experience failure and uncertainty. As parents we should be there for our children when they fail, but not fight their battles for them.

Thank you for participating in this Parent and Carer Digital Presentation series. You can re-watch the videos and access activities and resources anytime via the Parent & Carer Hub

Empathy is putting ourselves in the shoes of others, to feel and see what they do. We practise this through being kind and compassionate towards other people.

Families will learn about empathy by showing kindness and compassion towards others.
