PRINCIPAL'S REPORT
Dear Families
"Dreaming with Eyes Open'' is the theme of this year's Book Week. Fostering a love of reading is one of the greatest treasures we can give children and one they will have for the rest of their lives. Our Book Parade will take place this Friday, Aug 26th at 10am. Children can come dressed as their favourite book character. All families are welcome to join us. ( in costume too!!!!! If you would like to:))
It's Back! We are very excited to once again celebrate Fathers’ Day breakfast on the 2nd September beginning at 7:15am. All dads, grandfathers, stepdads and special friends are invited to come along to school for breaky. We hope you can join us. Please complete the google form located on the blue "Father's Day Breakfast Response button" prior to Thursday 1st September for catering purposes.
We also have our fathers Day stall taking place on Wednesday 31st August, with many exciting treasures for our students to purchase. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Karen Vodusek for all her work in coordinating both the Mothers and Fathers day stall for many many years.
Going to school each day is the single most important part of your child’s education. Students learn new things at school every day - missing school puts them behind. Please ensure your child is at school prior to 8:45am. If your child is absent from school for any reason, it is vital that you notify the school prior to 9am, along with the reason for the absence. Attendances and absences are recorded by the Department of Education, so it is very important that these records are maintained correctly. Please notify the school through the Absence Notification on PAM. SMS messages will be sent to parents to advise of any unexplained absences. Should you receive one of these please contact the school as soon as possible.
Our school uniform reinforces our children's pride in their appearance and instils recognition of themselves as an integral member of our school community. Being part of Sacred Heart means wearing our school uniform correctly.
A few reminders about our expectations about our school uniform:
-
Black shoes and white socks are to be worn
-
No jewellery should be worn to school, (small plain studs/sleepers for ears and watches are permitted).
Tracksuit pants worn on sports day need to be Navy Blue
Take Care,
Arn

Catholic Identity Report
Confirmation Eucharist
Thank you to all the parents who have responded with their choice of date for the Confirmation and First Eucharist ceremonies. I am just waiting for the final few replies and then I will let everyone know the date of their child/childrens’ celebration.
More information about preparation and the ceremony will be sent closer to the date.
RECYCLING
Our year 6 RESPECT Team along with the assistance of Pauline from Sweet and Sour Sisters are encouraging us all to recycle. The milk drinks, fruit boxes and fruit cans that can be purchased at our canteen are able to be returned for money. There are tubs in each space for these containers.
All money raised will go to the Rosemary Cullen Foundation.
A big thank you to Pauline for being the driving force behind this.
We had our second collection Friday and it is great to see the effort of our Respect Team and all our students in relation to recycling these containers. Just a reminder to not squash these containers as they then cannot be returned.
Sacred Heart Parish
Visiting Priest in Yarrawonga
Fr Henry Onyirioha will be spending 10 weeks in the diocese, on loan from the Diocese of Enugu, Nigeria, where he has been working as a parish priest since his ordination in 2006. Fr Henry visited Australia when his younger brother, Anthony, was ordained as a priest for the Archdiocese of Hobart, and he has also served in a variety of locations in Europe and the US during his annual holidays.
Fr Henry arrives in Australia on 22 August 2022, and will assist in the Parish of Yarrawonga after a week or so in Bendigo. During his time in Yarrawonga, Fr Brian Carey will act as his mentor.
Preparation & Consultation Meeting for the Sandhurst Mission and Pastoral Council
On 27 April 2022 Bishop Shane Mackinlay announced a year of Preparation and Consultation for the Sandhurst Mission and Pastoral Council (SMPC). Dr Chris Cotter (Sandhurst Director of Mission and Pastoral Life) and Ruth Lawlor (Sandhurst Youth Ministry Coordinator) will be conducting a Preparation & Consultation Meeting this Sunday at Sacred Heart Parish, Yarrawonga after 10am mass.
The meeting will run for no more than 90 minutes.
At the meeting you will:
- find out about the SMPC
- participate in a ‘Listening and Dialogue’ process (as used in the first phase of the Plenary Council)
- provide feedback and ask questions which will contribute to the establishment of a structure that will support synodality in our diocese.
All are welcome!
Have a great week everyone,

NEWS FROM THE Y - AFTER SCHOOL CARE
The children are already planning for the next school holidays. The full Program is up on the Mercy centre door, and included in this newsletter. Bookings for the holidays are now available.
No matter how cold it has been, the children love being out side, whether it is playing football, soccer, cricket or playing on the monkey bars.
The children are great at being the leaders of our program, and taking on responsibilities.
Many of the younger children are showing a lot of independence skills.
We have had a special visitor to our program Xavier Leslie. Local footballer. He told us all about his career and promised to come back and play a game with us.
Last week: we had activities based on “Bluey”, and “Pokémon”, but the biggest hit of the week was playing “football Bingo”.
Next Week: we will have activities abased on “Ghost Busters”, “Sharks” and “Minecraft”.
