Principals Report

It's hard to believe we only have two weeks of school left of the school year.  It feels like Christmas has just crept up on us with very little warning!! It is however wonderful to see our learning spaces looking bright and joyful with Christmas cheer.

School transition for our Foundation to grade 5 will take place Tuesday 6th December. Students will spend the morning in their new learning space and with their teachers for 2023. When deciding on classes, our teachers consider academic achievement levels, children who work well together and children who are better to be separated, special learning needs, behaviour and social or emotional needs. This process takes a lot of time, care, compassion, thought and trust. It is not vital for your child to be in the same class as his/her best friend. It is vital to be in a class with the best interest of your child in mind. It is very difficult to move children around once classes have been set. It is not possible to move one child as this inevitably affects that of another. I thank you for your understanding in this matter.  Our incoming Foundation students and our Grade 6 students transition to highschool will take place on Wednesday 14th December

Our Christmas family picnic will also take place on the 6th December 5pm  - 7pm.  The Christmas picnic is an informal evening where we come together to have some fun and join in the Christmas spirit. I look forward to seeing you all.

We will celebrate the 2022 school year together with a Mass on Wednesday 14th December. Following Mass, presentations will take place and leaving students, staff and families will be farewelled. Everyone is most welcome to come along and join us for this celebration.  Grade 6 graduation luncheon will take place at Mulwala Ski Club at 12pm after mass.

Just a reminder, the last day of school is Thursday 15th December.  School will finish at the normal time of 3.15pm.

Have a great week everyone

Year Five Leadership Day
Last Friday our Year Five students participated in a Leadership Day focused on the Mercy Values. This day is part of the preparation for our students as they move into Year Six. They rotated between six groups with each group focused on a different Mercy Value. Activities ranged from role plays, video making, poster making, Indigenous art, T Shirt design and making paper tea cups. From here the students will prepare a speech around the two Mercy
Values that they connect with most. The day was held at Sacred Heart College and ended with a hot chip lunch at the lake. Thank you to the teachers involved, Mrs Leary, Mrs ODwyer, Ms Schutt, Mrs Gorman and Mr Griffin.

Congratulations
This Sunday Elsie-Anna O’Kane will make her Confirmation and First Eucharist at 8.30 Mass at Tungamah. This is a very exciting day for Elsie-Anna so please keep Elsie-Anna in your prayers. Well done Elsie-Anna.

Ministers of the Word
Our parish is running short of volunteers for readers for weekend masses especially Saturday evening. If there are any adults or students in year 5 or 6 who would be willing to go on the roster please contact me or Rikarla at the presbytery on 57443030.

End of Year Mass
Our End of Year Mass will be held Wednesday December 14th at the MPB at Sacred Heart College at 10am. This is a wonderful way to celebrate the year and to farewell our Year 6 students as they move onto high school. Everyone is warmly invited to attend.

As you can see from our list of Important Dates, we have a lot of activities coming up. You can keep up to date with our Simon Everywhere App.
Thank you to all our students, staff, parents, friends and families for supporting the 'Jump Rope for Heart Celebration Day'. The students dazzled, jumped, twirled and skipped their way through 20-30mins of fun and fitness today followed by a small showcase of tricks.
Our school has raised $6,762  for Lifesaving Heart Research. An amazing effort and all for a worthy cause. The foundation is grateful. Well done to all our students for their efforts the past six weeks. Prizes from Jump Rope for Heart will be arriving in the next two weeks.
Woolworths Cricket Blast/Kanga 8s
After some postponements due to the recent wet weather, Sacred Heart Primary and Yarrawonga P-12 joined together for some cricket at Vic Park. The Yr 3/4s had an afternoon of hit and giggle on Monday followed by the Yr 5/6s who had a day of cricket today with friends and peers. We thank Peter Brear and Mrs Willett for coordinating the day and all the teachers, staff and families who supported our students. It was nice to get out and socialize with students from the P-12 and enjoy some sunshine!
Welcome to our 2023 Prep students.
Our Transition sessions have been a great success..
Meeting and working with their Year 5 Buddies is always a highlight.
We look forward to sharing this exciting journey with our new and existing families.
