Principals Report

It was great to see many families at our term one drinks last Friday at the Yacht club.  Although the weather was not particularly warm, it was the perfect venue to relax and catch up with one another.  Social events coming up will be posted out early next term
Learning Conversations will take place next week on the 3rd, 4th and 5th of April.  This is a great opportunity for you to meet with classroom teachers to discuss your child's progress, successes and opportunities in their learning.  This is an important component of our learning program and all families are expected to book a time via PAM.
Thank you for all your generous donations of Easter eggs for our Easter raffle.  Please send along something to school if you have not already done so.  Tickets have gone home and are selling fast. Thank you.  Special thanks to Robyn Connell for organising the raffle and all our volunteers who are putting the hampers together.
I look forward to seeing many of you next week at our Holy Week liturgy at 11.30 on the basketball court.  Remember to bring your walking shoes so we can all pound the pavement for Caritas K’s!!!!

Have a great week everyone
Arn

Catholic Identity News

Holy Week Liturgy and Caritas Ks
On the last day of term Thursday, April 6th we will hold a Holy Week Liturgy, Sausage sizzle lunch and then Caritas Ks.
Holy Week leads up to the most important weekend in the Catholic Church and our liturgy will follow the events of this week.
The Liturgy will begin at 11.30 on the basketball court followed by lunch and then Caritas Ks. Caritas Ks is an initiative of Caritas Australia.
The students will walk in their colour house team around the perimeter of the school, over a period of 70 mins, taking it in turns to carry buckets of water.
Every day, thousands of women and children around the world need to cover many kilometres each day to fetch water, obtain food, get to school or market, or simply to survive.
By participating in Caritas Ks we provide the opportunity for our students to walk in the shoes of these women and children and others less fortunate while raising money for Caritas Australia. We are asking for a note donation per family or a gold coin donation per child and this money will be collected on the last day of term. Please feel free to hand in the contents of your Project Compassion Box as your donation.
With the support of Year 6 Justice team leaders Maisie and Kiandra and their team Eliot, Lachlan, Ted, Milla, Taj, Kai, Harry, Poppy and Jackson a great day will be had while supporting a very worthy cause.
Parents and friends are welcome to join us for all or part of the activities. Please bring your own chair to the liturgy.

Rookie Rollers (Lawn Bowls)
Thanks to 'Sporting Schools', a government sport initiative, Mr Carroll gave our students in Years 3-6 an opportunity to participate in 'Rookie Rollers' over a 4-6 week period. Rookie Rollers is a modified, primary school age version of Lawn Bowls. In PE, the students used weighted rubber bowls on the basketball court. They aimed for targets, bowled in groups and played bowls games like 'pigs in the pen!' To conclude our program, the senior students in Years 5 & 6 will have a session down at the Yarrawonga Bowling Club with Bert Tait and his volunteer helpers. Last week, 5M & 5S had a session down at the bowling club. The other classes in Year 5 & 6 aim to have their sessions during Term 2.
Scholastic Book Club
All orders placed with Scholastic Book Club help our school in buying books
Online orders are preferred.
School fees statements have been emailed. If you haven't received yours, please check your 'JUNK' folder. Statements were emailed from Mrs H Keenan. Please call the office if you didn't receive this email.
With the end of term one upon us and a few illnesses getting around our school, we appreciate families support by keeping unwell children at home. If your child has had gastro it is recommended that they stay away from school for 24 hours to recover and reduce the spread of infection.
News from the Y Team

Can you believe it, week 10 already? One week to go and it will be the school holidays again.
The children have been enjoying our Woolworths farm Lego. We had 2 collections donated to us from families, and collected to 2 bags worth ourselves.  It was great fun opening it all, adding the stickers and of course playing with it.
We have planned for the upcoming school holidays: to include the movies, and a visit Kidstown adventure playground. Bookings are going well, and some days are booked out. We also have a waiting list on one day. We do still have spaces available on most days.
We will also be operating on Monday the 24th of April as a Curriculum day (full day program)
Our new Project is following up on the children’s interest in “The Guinness World Records”
We are creating our own “Guinness OSHC Records”
The children have made a list of many records they would like to set. The first one is “Dead Fish” game. The current record holder is Matidla Kennedy at 17 minutes and 13 seconds.
