A Prayer of Remembrance

Lord God, help us this day to remember the sacrifice of the first ANZACs, Australian and New Zealander, and the generations of men, women and children who have died in the cause of freedom and peace. Help us to remember those who still bear the physical and mental scars and disabilities of their service. Help us to remember the widows, girlfriends, parents and orphans and all those who waited in vain for the return of a loved one. Help us to remember the mateship, agony, courage and compassion of war service. Please give us the wisdom and strength to build a better world. Amen

Principals Report

Welcome back to Term 2.

I hope you have had a restful Easter break with your family and friends. What a blessing to have such incredible weather to enjoy all that our local areas have to offer.

Thank you to all our students who participated in the RSL Anzac day commemorative march and laying of the wreath in Mulwala, Yarrawonga and Tungamah. Parents, thank you for supporting your children to be there and participate in this very important day in our Australian story. It was wonderful to see the respect and honour our younger generation displayed as they participated in this important commemoration.

A reminder that it is expected all students will be in full winter school uniform by the beginning of next week, Week 3. Please see the school website for the uniform list.  Hats are optional. Thank you parents for making sure that children come to school each day dressed in the correct uniform. Our uniform plays an important part in setting the culture of our school and I really appreciate your support on this.

Have a great week

Holy Week Liturgy and Caritas Ks
On the last day of Term One we held our Holy Week Liturgy and the Caritas K’s. Our Year 6 students led us through a very moving liturgy following the events of Holy Week . This meaningful prayer along with the whole school singing Lord of The Dance and Rise Up helped spread the message of the events of this very important week. It was lovely that many parents and family members were able to join us for the liturgy. Following the liturgy the children, staff and families enjoyed a Sausage Sizzle cooked extremely well by our Lions Club members Joan, Ollie and Peter. These sausages fuelled our Caritas Ks. The idea behind Caritas Ks is that while raising money we experience a little of the hardship that many children around the world face every day to find fresh water. As we walked around the oval carrying buckets of water it became very clear to us all how lucky we are to be able to turn on a tap to get fresh water!
A very big thank you must go to The Lions Club for their superb cooking skills.
to Kristy and Tammy and Woolworths for their very kind donation of the sausages and Lauren and Dean at Mulwala Bakery for generously donating the bread.
We are very lucky to live in such a supportive community.
At this stage we have raised over $630 for Project Compassion and Caritas. If any families still have their Project Compassion boxes at home could you please return them asap.

Mother’s Day Liturgy
This year our Mother’s Day Liturgy will be held on Tuesday May 16th at 10 am in the MPB at Sacred Heart College. This is another important celebration for our Sacred Heart Community and one where we celebrate our mums, grandmothers, aunts and all the special women in our lives. Please join us for this beautiful celebration. As part of the liturgy could our Prep and Year 6 children email a photo to me.
mmcinness001@shyarrawonga.catholic.edu.au of them with their mum or the special lady in their life. This will be used in a power point
We look forward to you all joining us for the liturgy.

ANZAC Day Liturgy
We commenced today with an ANZAC Day liturgy. The children were very reverent as we prayed for those who sacrificed their lives for us and those who still serve in the Australian Defence Force. We also asked for peace in our own lives as well as around the world. Sacred Heart College leaders Chloe Burgess and Dom McInness also read their speeches from yesterday’s Dawn Service.

Have a great week everyone and enjoy this beautiful Autumn weather.
