Principals Report

Dear parents and Carers

It is hard to believe we are in week 7 of our final term! We are currently in the midst of finalising staffing and class groupings for 2023.

Each year, staff spend considerable time in forming the classes for the following year.  This process involves much gathering of information from previous teachers to ensure the best fit in class for all children. Work habits, special support, friendships, personality are all considered when making group placements.  Our teachers are professionals who know that a balanced class structure is the most appropriate fit for all students. Parent requests are not necessary, as teachers are creating balanced groups that consider all children and not just one.  Our teachers have already worked with the children, so they are aware of the clashes between children and aim to avoid these situations for the betterment of all in the class.  We appreciate the vast number of parents who leave class placement up to our teachers and trust their professional judgement.

Could I ask families to finalise any outstanding 2023 fee account.. It is expected that all fees are paid each year and not carried forward to the next year. If you are paying direct debit, please check to see that your account will be paid in full by the end of the school year. If not, please contact the office to amend your direct debit amount. As always, if fees create financial concern for you, I would encourage you to make an appointment to discuss the matter with me.
Families will soon receive information explaining the 2024 school fee structure. This has been developed and is in line with Catholic Education Sandhurst’s recommendations. Please ensure you read it carefully and contact the office if you have any questions. We strongly encourage setting up direct debit and invite you to contact the office to set this up.

Have a wonderful week

Take Care

Arn

PERMISSION NOTES

Thank you to all the parents that are responding to our permission notes so promptly.
The end of year is particularly busy and excursions cannot be planned for without 100% of parent responses.
A no response is also required if your child will not be attending an excursion.
Your prompt response to all permission requests by the
due date or sooner is appreciated.
Students in Year 3-6 in 2024 will be participating in a
Life Saving Victoria Water Safety Program
that requires parent permission by the 2nd week of school so please check PAM during the month of
January and respond accordingly.

Stayed tuned for dates when our Year 6 students will start selling Berri Quelch Sticks from the Canteen.
These will be available on
Monday, Tuesdays & Wednesday
at recess and lunch breaks.
ALL PROCEEDS WILL GO DIRECTLY TO
FUNDRAISING FOR OUR NEW PLAYGROUND.
We will advise via PAM when this will begin
so start saving up your $1 coins.
A great fundraising and a healthy way to
stay refreshed on the hot summer day.
A message from Sweet and Sour Sisters.
Sacred Heart Primary State Basketball
For the first time in a number of years, Sacred Heart Primary School had some Yr 6 Girls travel to Melbourne for the SSV State Primary Basketball Championships. The eight girls representing Sacred Heart finished in first place at Regionals recently and were given the opportunity to go on and compete at a State level at the Melbourne Sports & Aquatic Centre (MSAC).
The girls’ team was represented by: Madi Cassidy, Maisie Cope, Winnie Heffernan, Ruby Driscoll, Evie Charles, Lyla Levett, Elsie Lidgerwood and Charlette Arthur.
At the State Championships, the girls played three games in a round robin format against schools from across the state. The girls played well in patches, fought hard and did their best against the more dominant metropolitan teams from Melbourne.
Kiera Freeman from SH College was fantastic in giving up her time to travel and coach the girls in Melbourne. She had great support from Lauren Lidgerwood and Alison Cassidy who assisted off the court. We thank all the families who travelled to support the girls and assist with scoring when needed. We appreciated your support. Well done to our girls in representing the school at State Basketball.

News from The Y Team

Summer School Holiday program Information
Last Day of Term for the children is Monday 18th December.
Our School Holiday Program will be running:
Tuesday 19th , Wednesday 20th , Thursday 21st , and Friday 22nd December
Then closed until Monday 8th of January 2024
Then we will then operate until school begins (expect Friday 26th Australia Day)
If you need care from the 2nd of January 2024, the YMCA Yarrawonga college program could help you.

Reminder: Hats are a must have item at aftercare. Children without hats will be limited to playing in the undercover area. Many children leave their hats in their classroom, so a spare old hat kept in their bags would be fine for our program
Our most popular game at the moment is the “Humpty dumpty wall” game.
The children have been very creative by using our new “What’s in the box” recycled art items.
We have started a few new weekly activities:
“Artwork of the week” which will be displayed on the sign in desk.
“Fact of the week” which is displayed on the white board under the Acknowledgement of Country
As well as Jeff the fish, we now have the life cycle of the caterpillar happening in our room:
Caterpillar eggs, caterpillars and a cocoon due to open in 5/6 days.
Some of the eggs have hatched. So we can see the changes that are happening.
Our first Christmas decoration has gone up, one of many to come.
