Dear families

If it was suggested to me at the beginning of 2021 that we would experience several lockdowns and periods of remote learning during the year, I would not have believed them! 2021 has been an extraordinary year!!!!  I find it hard to believe  we are drawing the school year to a close, in some ways, I am pleased we are doing so. The challenges and interruptions that the year imposed on us have been significant and at times, the sense of frustration almost took over!

I am incredibly proud of how our school community rallied to these challenges during 2021.  Thank you for your support, understanding and dedication to our fabulous school.  It has been a pleasure working with you all this year and celebrating the successes of your children. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas and festive season. In particular, I hope that we feel the joy and promise that the birth of the baby Jesus brings us, especially after such a challenging and unpredictable 2021. The anticipation of Christmas and the New Year reflects the hope and optimism that we have for an uninterrupted year ahead of us in 2022!

For all those students and their families who are moving on, I wish you every good blessing and thanks  for all that you have contributed to life at Sacred Heart during your time here. I hope that you will still think of Sacred Heart as ‘your school’ and stay in touch with us over the years.

Enjoy your holidays with your family and make sure you take time to relax. If you are travelling, stay safe and I look forward to seeing you all again at the beginning of the new school year.

Exciting times ahead!

We have just been given the official word that we have been successful in our application for a new building grant.

We will be building a new set of classrooms, a purpose built STEM Centre and Performing Arts Centre.
Building will begin mid next year.

Here's a sneak peak of what our building will hopefully look like.

Sport Carnival 2021

I have had a few enquiries regarding parents attending our sports carnival on Friday. Due to the short period of time elapsed since we closed down from our last COVID outbreak it has been decided, following the advice of Catholic Education Sandhurst, parents will be unable to attend our sports carnival. With only two weeks until Christmas we believe having large groups congregating onsite poses a significant risk to our community.  We have to remember the majority of our students are unvaccinated therefore are most vulnerable to contracting the virus.

During the sports we will follow our COVID plan.  Students are able to dress in house colours however they will be sitting in year level groups around the oval to minimise mixing across year levels.

Kind regards

Arn

As my final Catholic Identity Report for this year I would like to say a big thank. 2021 has been another busy year with lots of highs and lows. As a school community we have banded together to work through the disappointments and struggles. I would like to thank the students of Sacred Heart. Their positivity and resilience has been a trademark of these children and should be an example to us all. Thank you for the stories, experiences and learning activities you shared with me both face to face and remotely.

Thank you also to our families for their persistence with remote learning and the many cancellations and postponements we had during the year, of Sacraments and liturgies. Sacred Heart certainly isn’t the same without the involvement of our parents and extended family members and I look forward to reconnecting with you all again in 2022.

I would also like to thank Father Steve for his continued support and guidance. We know we have all been in his prayers.

Finally to the wonderful Sacred Heart staff for all your support, encouragement and care you show to our students and each other. Thank You!

Peace and best wishes to all for a wonderful Christmas. May the time we spend with our families help us remember the true meaning of Christmas.
