Principals Report

Good afternoon families,

We send our best wishes to our Year 6s who are currently in Canberra at their camp, they’ve had a fantastic time. As always, they have done us proud with their behaviour at the different sites. A huge thank you to our amazing Year 6 staff who have spent countless hours planning for the camp, preparing students so they have a successful time and for being away from their own families so our students get this experience. The school community is truly grateful.

It's an exciting time for some of our Year 4 students who are celebrating the Sacrament of Confirmation Eucharist next Friday. They have been working hard with their teachers and Mrs McInness to prepare. They will celebrate Spirit Day next Friday then receive the Sacraments Friday evening at 7pm at the College MPB. Everyone is invited to attend and celebrate with us.

Also next week, we will have a record 19 students representing our school at the State Athletics. This is an amazing achievement! We have six students in individual events and four relay teams. We wish them luck and hope they are able to compete at their best. We are already so proud of all their efforts!

Apart from the couple rainy days we have had, the weather is certainly improving. A reminder that we are a SunSmart School and all students are to wear a broad brimmed hat during recess and lunch breaks and when leaving school if they are walking. Students will also be encouraged to apply sunscreen before breaks.

We have had some cases of gastro in our school and we have been informed it is in the wider community. Please, if your child is sick or has been sick, they must stay home for 48 hours after the last symptoms to stop the spread. Thank you for your understanding.

Next Friday is World Teachers Day. We are extremely blessed to have such a caring and dedicated staff at Sacred Heart. Our staff work tirelessly for our students. I am sure I speak for all our community when I say to our teachers that we are so thankful for all they do!

Take care,
Ben.

Confirmation Eucharist
Our First Eucharist Confirmation Ceremony is fast approaching. All candidates should have received a red note with the White Sacrament Card attached. It is very important that all details are filled in correctly on this card as it is used to update the Parish registers. Could these all be returned as soon as possible.
As mentioned in an earlier email the children are to wear good clothes to the ceremony.
Some girls wear a white dress, but it is not compulsory. I do have a couple of dresses which have been donated if anyone would like to borrow one. Please contact me if interested.
The ceremony is always a special night, and our choir is an important part of this night. If any of our non-sacramental children would like to come and sing at the Mass, they are very welcome. They will be fully supervised, so parents do not have to stay. Please let me know if your child is interested in being part of the ceremony. As mentioned this is a very special night for our children, their families and the whole Sacred Heart Community and the whole school and parish community is looking forward to helping make this a special celebration for our candidates.

Have a great week,
