Principals Report

Good Afternoon Everyone

It is hard to believe we are halfway through the final term for 2023.
Our celebration, for the grade 4 students receiving the sacraments of Eucharist and Confirmation, was a truly special and joyous occasion on Friday night. The enthusiastic and reverent participation of the students is a testament to the support and guidance they receive from their parents, carers, and the school staff. Such events bring the community together in faith and create wonderful  memories for everyone involved. Special thanks to  Father Michael and Mrs Meegan McInness for leading the celebration and their active involvement in supporting staff and students in preparation of the Sacraments.
Today our preps for 2024 will be taking part in the first of four transition days. This is a very exciting time for our new students and their families. A big thank to the foundation staff  and Mrs Sharon Powell for the enormous amount of work they put in to prepare for these days.
It has come to my attention that some students are  wearing smart watches that allow them to message parents or family members directly during school hours. While we understand the importance of staying connected, our school policy regarding communication during the school day is clear: students and parents are required to direct any  communication through our school administration. I wish everyone an enjoyable long weekend.

Stay safe.

Kind Regards
Arn

Confirmation First Eucharist
Last Friday was a beautiful celebration for our Year 4 students
making their Confirmation First Eucharist. We had 35 excited and
enthusiastic candidates who participated so reverently in the whole
celebration. Friday evening was the culmination for our students and
the Year 4 teachers of a lot of preparation. A big thanks must go to
all the staff who attended Friday night showing their support to our
children. The choir which was made up of siblings and children from
all year levels also played a special role in the Mass. Thanks also to
Fr Michael and Fr Vijay for leading our Mass. Fr Michael has been
heavily invested in the candidates and has been very supportive of
them. Finally, a huge thanks to the children themselves and their
families for their wholehearted approach to this very special
occasion.
I am in the process of emailing photos out from Friday night to all
families.
We have uploaded a video to Facebook today created by the very
clever Mrs Whiteley which is a great snapshot of the evening.
Have a great week everyone,
Meegan McInness

Our Year 6 students undertook a tour of our National Capital as part of their Year 6 Camp. Students were fortunate to be given the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational programs with a focus on Australia's history, culture, heritage and democracy. The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizen education. To assist families in meeting the cost of the camp the Australian Government is contributing funds of $30 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program towards those costs. The rebate is directly to the school upon completion of the Camp. The amount rebated to the school was factored into the school fee charged to parents for Year 6 Camp.

Tearing.
Sensitivity to light
EXCLUSION PERIODS FROM SCHOOL
EXCLUSION OF CASES – Exclude until discharge from eyes has ceased.

PLEASE REMEMBER YOUR HATS.

Congratulations to Miss Cose (now Mrs Newton) and Mark on their Wedding Day
News from The Y Team

Summer School Holiday program Information
Last Day of Term for the children is Monday 18th December.
Our School Holiday Program will be running:
Tuesday 19th , Wednesday 20th , Thursday 21st , and Friday 22nd December
Then closed until Monday 8th of January 2024
Then we will then operate until school begins (expect Friday 26th Australia Day)

Halloween brought us lots of fun games puzzles and dress ups.
The children have also been decorating/personalising my desk. First they painted a base colour, then they drew all over it with stencils and are now in the process of painting the pictures. It will look amazing.
Cricket is now the most popular outdoor game, then soccer.
We have also had a few new games in the last two weeks: a Ring toss game, Shut the box, and humpty dumpty wall game.
